Doncaster West Development Trust (DWDT) was established in 1993 by Marisa Graziano working alongside local people determined to support their communities.
They wanted to make a positive difference to the coalfield communities in West Doncaster that were so severely affected by pit closures. Originally operating as Conisbrough and Denaby Development Trust (CDDT), they changed their name in 2009.
Based at The Terrace in Conisbrough, DWDT has responded to developing social issues and evolved from an organisation serving Conisbrough and Denaby into one that provides much-needed outreach services for people across the borough. With staff widely available at community venues, they give our support when and where it’s needed.
Central to their mission is to tackle hardship and unemployment by removing barriers that hold people back such as a lack of opportunities, knowledge, skills or confidence.
They therefore continue to seek the funding that will help them achieve this goal. They provide information, advice, guidance and training on a range of issues including money management, substance and alcohol misuse, education, employment and online resources. Their sustained efforts have resulted in huge improvements for countless people and we are as committed as ever to doing more.
DWDT is a social enterprise (a not for profit company limited by guarantee). This means that as well as delivering most of their services free of charge any surplus funds are reinvested into more projects that benefit the people of Doncaster.
With the backing of a board and volunteers, the staff team of DWDT are committed to delivering quality assured services that help people to make real and lasting changes in their lives.
They work in close partnership with the Edlington Hilltop Centre to develop and deliver services that meet the needs of the local community.
